YAYA BASEBALL
Branding
Brand Campaign
Intro
Hitting it out of the park for Yaya.
Vision - To position the Yaya product for the American market. Currently, Yaya has no presence in this market and needs a stronger foundation to build a cohesive brand awareness campaign and launch successfully.
Challenge - Create a brand Identity and brand messaging strategy that can appeal to a new market filled with legacy brand bats.
Goal - To introduce Yaya bats as an elite-performing long-ball bat with branding and messaging that not only supports these claims but will resonate and inspire athletes of all ages who are seeking a competitive edge.
The brand mark doesn’t intuitively convey the brand’s name. Therefore, it will represent an unnecessary branding challenge and mistaken identity. Additionally, we propose a logo that is not only iconic, but clearly communicates the brand’s name. The Yaya bat has never made an American market impression, why waste any extra effort (and money) in explaining the name?

The Yaya brand mark has a strong resemblance to two X’s. As you know, your target market isn’t looking for strikes. They’re looking for home runs. The legibility of the wordmark also is a little hard to read and understand. Yaya in this form makes it difficult for our market to recall and search for the name.
The new brand mark needs to be presented in a modern design, with clear legibility and remain baseball-relevant.

The Branding
A brand is more than a logo mark. It's a feeling you get from the product. It's a promise. Yaya's new promise is "Confidence in Hand".
To leave a lasting impression a brand has to tell a compelling story about who they are, why they are the best and inspire customers to use Yaya’s bats over the rest of the competition. Like Nike’s “Just do It.” I crafted an aspirational campaign message, “Go Yard.” That aligns with the claim that beechwood bats are better long ball driving wooden bats.
To “Go Yard” is an American Baseball slang that means to hit the ball out of the ballpark, reminiscent of when you were a kid in your backyard. It brings back a sense of nostalgia of every kid, in every yard. It represents the dream of making it to the big leagues. It is the idea that “Yard” is our proving grounds no matter where we’re from.
This slang takes this concept a step further. Baseball is no longer just America’s Pastime. It’s the world’s sport now. No matter what “Yard” you started in, whether it was a street in Brooklyn, or a sandlot in the Dominican Republic, a “Yard” is how we measure greatness. Baseball is a game of feet and inches, but I want to drive home the message that Yaya measures in Yards.

The Results
To take the brand to the next level I envision stadium takeovers and product demos. On live baseball games the tracing of how far a ball is hit could be sponsored by Yaya and feature a diamond green checkered pattern measuring the distance of a home run. Of course now measured in yards, and announcers promoting saying "Go Yard".
